I recently purchased this carte de visite of Jason Brown and the Rev. J.H. Hector.
I spent the last few evenings searching through Newspapers.com looking for a story about the two men speaking or attending a meeting together and tonight I found some.
It seems that Jason Brown, son of John Brown, and Rev J.H.Hector, known as the "Black Knight," were traveling around the East in 1891 speaking to Temperance Party gatherings. I found newspaper articles from Feb thru May 1891 reporting on the men speaking to record audiences. I have shared one below.
In 1891 Jason was a young 68 years old. Also interesting was the mention of a book that Jason had written about his father. Hmmmm. Something else to look for.
